Designing Shared Understanding Across Complex Change

Most organisations already use many ways to describe and navigate change: diagrams, journeys, roadmaps, sticky notes, spreadsheets, architecture maps in ArchiMate® or BMPN, service blueprints and more. Yet teams still struggle to create shared understanding across disciplines, silos and levels of complexity.

In this session, Daniel Simon (Across & Ahead) presents new survey findings on how enterprise professionals actually work in practice. The results challenge the idea that one method, framework or language can solve everything. Instead, they reveal a more hybrid reality: successful teams combine multiple tools and approaches depending on the people, context and challenge.

The session also explores why many modelling approaches fail to gain traction outside specialist groups, and what can make enterprise design more collaborative, accessible and useful for real transformation work.

Following the presentation, Daniel is joined by Milan Guenther and Helgi Mar Björgvinsson to discuss what these insights mean for the future of enterprise design and the evolving role of EDGY: helping people across architecture, design, product and transformation create a shared understanding of complex enterprises together.
